Press Release Governor Erico B. Aumentado vowed to provide the seed money for the Panglao Bohol International Airport Multi-Purpose Cooperative (PBIAMPC), upon the start of the construction works for the international airport.
Aumentado issued the statement Sunday last week during the oath-taking of the new officials of the cooperative led by its president, Saturnina Hernando.
The governor was the guest speaker during the oath-taking ceremony, together with Provincial Board Member-elect Alfonso Damalerio II, who represented first district Representative Edgar Chatto, Provincial Legal Officer Handel Lagunay, Bohol Poverty Reduction and Management Office and Provincial Government Media Affairs Head Antonieto "Boy" Pernia, and Panglao Mayor Benedicto Alcala.
Aumentado pointed out that the international airport development project must not only benefit the resort owners, but also the ordinary residents of Panglao.
PBIAMPC has coordinated with TESDA to come up with a training program for its members, who are the residents affected by the international airport project, to be prepared for employment once development in the area starts.
The whole international airport project is expected to provide employment to not less than 2,000 people, giving priority to the affected residents in the hiring of construction workers, janitors and other positions needed in the construction and operation of the airport project.
