The Philippine Institute of Certified Public Accountants-Bohol Chapter will conduct a seminar on Friday and Saturday for CPAs and non-CPAs that will cover the latest issues, concerns, development in Philippine Financial Reporting Standards (PFRS), and the newly-approved Republic Act 9504 or the National Internal Revenue Code as amended.

The two-day seminar will be at the Wregent Plaza Hotel, Tagbilaran City.

Updates on the new tax regulations and highlights of RA 9504 will be discussed by Arrnold Supilanas, CPA, the tax manager of Punongbayan and Araullo (P&A) based in Cebu City.

Supilanas is a product of Holy Name University under then dean, Dr. Jemma Jay, CPA.

Also during the seminar on August 29-30, Philippine Interpretations on IFRICs 12 to 15: Service Concession Arrangement, Customer Loyalty Programmes, The Limit on a Defined Benefit Asset, Agreements for the Construction of Real Estate will also be discussed together with the revised PAS 1 or Presentation of Financial Statements, revised PAS 23 or Borrowing Costs and PFRS 8 or Operating Segments.

These highly sophisticated topics will be given justice by the 1997 CPA Board exams first placer and partner of Punongbayan and Araullo (P&A), Romualdo Murcia III, also a graduate of HNU.

Other topics to be handled by Murcia are the following; Revised PFRS 3 or Business Combinations, Revised PAS 27 or Consolidated and Separate Financial Statements, PFRS 7 or Financial Instruments Disclosures, PAS 32 or Financial Instruments-Disclosures and Presentation, PAS 39 or Financial Instruments - Recognition and Measurement, PAS 30 or Disclosures in the Financial Statements of Banks and Similar Institutions and PFRS 4 or Insurance Contracts.

Registration fee is pegged at P1,000 (with OR) per day inclusive of morning and afternoon snacks, lunch, seminar kit and certificate of attendance with CPE units.

Separate certificates will be issued per day and each certificate carries units for continuing professional education for CPAs for a total of 16 CPE units for two days.

CPE units are a must for PRC-BOA accreditation and CPA license renewal.
