The promotion of tourism posted a high mark of +34% in the latest opinion polling or Bohol Poll conducted on April 3-20 2008 by Holy Name University Research Center while promotion of investment got +13% during the public presentation at the Audio-visual hall of said school.

Tourism, considered one of the flagship programs of the provincial government, posted 57% satisfied, 28% dissatisfied and 17% undecided of the 400 respondents interviewed province-wide. There were 100 respondents for each congressional district and this city.

Forty-one percent are satisfied of the provincial government- handled investment promotion while 28% are not while only 27% are undecided, according to the Bohol Poll.

Other services that the provincial government provided like livelihood and environmental protection each got +1% and +23%, respectively. Livelihood had 38 satisfied as compared to 37% were not satisfied of the respondents. And environmental protection posted 50% satisfied as against 27% dissatisfied while only 19 were undecided.

On the issue of the protection of life and property, respondents posted +20% with 48% satisfied. About 28% are not satisfied while 21% are undecided.

Food supply got a -9 while support for agriculture +2 that the provincial government provided.

Forty two percent are dissatisfied; 33% satisfied on how the province handles food supply. Forty one percent are satisfied while 39% are not satisfied on the way the province supports agriculture.

In addressing graft and corruption, the provincial government got -36% with only 24% satisfied while 60% dissatisfied and 14% of the respondents undecided. It is higher than -30% of last year. The province posted -16% in 2006; -26 in 2005; and -32% in 2004, the survey indicated.

The public presentation of the survey opened with a welcome message of Fr. Romeo Bancale, HNU vice-president for academic affairs followed by Josefina T. Cemine's presentation of the background of the study.

Presentors include statistical analyst Jaremilleta M. Arawiran on the methodology demographic characteristics of Boholanos; technical manager Victoria C. Millanar, social issues; and project director Maria Paz J. Espiritu, political issues.
