The beauty of life does not depend on how happy you are, but on how happy others are because of you. For life to be meaningful add a little sacrifice, subtract anger and hatred, multiply friends, and divide love for everyone to share.
Yes, the members of Golden Seniors Club willingly do, meeting together once in a while to ease our minds and hearts from domestic headaches. On November 14, 2011 the birthday girl Mam Venie Cabalog, gathered us at Gerarda's, The newest addition to a line of restos in Tagbilaran City, owned and managed by Mr. and Mrs. Alex Lim, located at J.S. Torralba St. this city.
Gerarda's possesses a homely ambiance simply because it is originally the ancestral home of businessmen couple Felix and Gerarda Lim, which is transformed into a modern resto. The program committee planned to hold an impromptu program as a tribute to the honoree but to no avail because the venue was not exclusive for the group, there were other diners, so we opted to omit it. It was a unique celebration of Mrs. Veneranda Cabalog who turned 85 on that very day. She would have shared it with Fred Malaran who is U.S.A.
Kikay fashionista, Mam Eppie Raynaldo, dressed in black get-up with glittering accessories and matching bejeweled headband, turned into a sexy photographer hopping from one angle to another to take a snap shot of the partygoers. While taking shots, she informed this writer, that two great grandchildren of then Secretary of Education, Dr. Cecilio Putong are seated in the next table dining with Professor/Historian Marianito Luspo of Holy Name University. Me and hubby Vic, got near the trio, we had a great time chatting, reminescing, rewinding events, and retracing a family tree when the Putongs were still in Tagbilaran then our pleasantries were exciting and thrilling until it was time for photo ops, no less than the owner-manager took our picture, to allow all members to pose as a group.
Unlike October-born birthday bash of Lita Maniwang, Bebie Lim, and Dianne Ampong which was attended by 13 members only, the latest gathered twenty-one, not to mention the presence of Mesdames Lac Ocio and Leonor de la Torre. The next gathering will feature a joint birthday celeb of Mesdames Dading Mar and Gemma Millare cum Christmas party, to save time for the young-once upon a time. On the same occasion, a new member, Mrs. Bebie Calamba, a retired teacher of Eastern Cogon Elem. School, DepEd Tagbilaran City District, will be welcomed by the group.
