Simeon Toribio - equal the world high jump record in the 1932 Los Angeles Olympics. He finished 3rd to take the Bronze Medal. Participated in the 1936 Berlin Olympics.

Nino Ramirez - Philippine entry in the Men's Long Jump in the 1936 Olympic Games. He dropped in the qualifying round but he was the event Long Jump title holder in Asia. He was also a good basketball and tennis player.

Lauro Mumar - Known as "the fox" in Philippine basketball because he was instrumental in disqualifying the best player of Puerto Rico during a World Basketball Conference in Brazil. He caused the revision of the 20 seconds rule in basketball when he "freeze" the ball for 4 minutes against Puerto Rico. Carlos Loyzaga was known to be "The great difference", but there is a saying that says; he [Loyzaga] would not be "the great difference" without the "Fox" Mumar.

Eugenio Sarabia - A MICAA stalwart playing with various teams like Seven-Up, Yutivo, Crispa, Chelsea and Yellow Taxi.

Jorge Naron - A MICAA player playing with Yutivo

Dodie Bonita - played with Crispa

Lutgardo 'Gardy' Labad who hails from Baclayon, Bohol. An internationally known director and recipient of several FAMAS awards. He has directed numerous plays for PETA (Philippine Educational Theater Assiciation). He played a big role in the cultural development (i think this was in 1998) of our province. He directed the stage play Dagon sa Hoyohoy (the Story of Dagohoy, which was also in 1998). He has also been a composer for several Philippine movies (Mulawin, Magnifico, Tinimbang ka ngunit kulang, to name a few). Add to that, he is the staging director of the Loboc Children'c Choir and has led them to various triumphs. I think recently, he has been busy directing a play which staged in Maribojoc. He is a true cultural shaper of our province.

I agree. In fact tungod sa iyang mga initiatives during the time of Gov. Rene Relampagos, nagbunga og maayo ang cultural renaissance program sa Bohol, ug kini gi recognize pinaagi sa usa ka Gawad Galing Pook, the most prestigious national award for best models in good governance.

Lutgardo "Gardy" Labad also won another Best Musical Score Award for Nora Aunor's "Naglalayag".

Other Boholanos of note:

Anna Maris Igpit, Bb. Pilipinas - World 2006 (?), competed in Poland, was in the top 20 in best in swimsuit.

Michael Dadap, internationally known classical guitarist; his brother (I forgot his name), is also a known choir trainer and conductor, specializing in nationalistic songs.

Gigi Galon, singer from Calape (was always seen on Seeing Stars with Joe Quirino), asa na kaha siya karon?

Jinky Vidal, another singer from Calape

Salvacion Oppus - Yniguez, soprano, has performed abroad representing the Philippines; former governor of Southern Leyte; her daughter Rosette Y. Lerias became member of the House of Representatives representing the lone district of Southern Leyte.

Ricardo Miranda, governor of the not-yet-divided Davao province
