Professor Alberto C. Cainglet, a known original personality of the University of Bohol, (formerly Rafael Palma College - RPC), died last Monday. He was 80.
Known to many as “Sir Albert,†he was a foremost educator when he became an early academic administrator of RPC in the province. Aside from teaching, he was also the public relations man of the institution.
Cainglet also served as school sports administrator and an effective military training commandant being an army reserved officer with a rank of lieutenant colonel.
Outside the campus, the late Cainglet was a political strategist of former Gov. David Tirol and the late Tagbilaran City Mayor Venencio Inting.
“Sir Albert†was also a songwriter, a musician in his own right. He was band leader and composer. Some of the songs he wrote were the UB March, ROTC March, BSP Zenith, Dauis March, Pinanggang Panglao, Ubay March and a lot of Visayan songs.
He died as an avid radio listener of dyRD who took time to give his comments and suggestions (even through the phone when he was already physically weak).
Cainglet is survived by children Al-Raquel, Bert-Delia, Lora-Angelo, Himaya, Pinangga, Elumine Teofe-Gil, and grandchildren.
He will be given tribute at the University of Bohol at l0 o’clock this morning.
His remains will be laid to rest at the Dampas Catholic cemetery this afternoon after a requiem mass at the St. Joseph Cathedral at 1 p.m. today.
