Graze, sorry to hear about that our deepest condolence and to your families. My father too in Bohol 75 years old he is still fighting for what we called COPD disease. Mostly of the time his using oxygen for about two years to support his breath and to lengthen his life. There is a times if my sister from the Phil. called us and I'm panic to answered the phone and but I always prepared my self either she delivered a good news or bad news.

Grazie,

Just sharing my thoughts; in the US, nobody cares for the elderly. For practical reasons, they are putting their parents and elderly people in welfare villages / institutions. This is a form of discrimination by hiding them away from society.

You have proven once more that our filipino heritage is still alive. No question, we will all go there, but you have given enough respect till the end.

Ash, thanks a lot!  no matter how prepared we are, the death of a loved one still would hit us hard right in the bottom of our heart.  We remember the good and happy times and yet we find ourselves crying and missing those good times.

I know what you are saying about the panic whenever you receive a call from the Phils.  As for me, I hate so much as in so much calls during early morning.  When my police officer brother-in-law got killed, I received the call to inform me at 5 a.m.  When my uncle, my Dad's brother died of cancer two years ago, I received the call at 2 a.m.  and last week, when my Manoy Pael, Mom's brother died, I got the call at 5:30 in the morning.  So please, no more calls early in the morning!  Atakihon jud ko!

Macks, thank you so much too!  Caring for our elderly is the least thing we can to them for caring for us when we were young.  And besides, we always have to remember that we please the Lord more when we care for our elderly.

By the way, I hope that I'd be able to talk to your cousins Neneng and Glen Ferniz to thank them for their support.  Nakita nila ba na daghan kaayo'g fans si Manoy Pael every night pirte ka daghan mga tao mag adto sa amo mo sabat ug pangadji busa intawon nagpadala sila'g tabang na food for snacks.

There's also one tradition we have in Manga na I thought na wala na.  Kanang form of Bayanihan na kon naay mamatay, mag tampo2x ug usa ka gantang na bugas, pipila ka pesos ug each member naay mo represent mo tabang sa namatyan  panahon sa burial day sa pag hikay sa lubong, sa pagluto ug pag serve, pag hinlo, ug uban pa.  We call it Dajong (Dayong). That's really wonderful tradition.

Pirte man daw pang danguy-nguy gud.  Loving man gud kaayo na sila mag igsoon.  I think it helped pod na they knew daghan kaayo nag love ni Manoy Pael kay pirte daw kaayo'ng tawo, Mike!

Salamat kaayo, Mike, for thinking about my mother.

Ate Ging, was your Tito bald?
Because I had a dream about a bald old man last night.
We talked for a long long time.
And in Bisaya.

My Uncle, we endearingly call him Manoy Pael, died about 9:30 p.m. Philippine time.  He was my mother's elder brother.  We had him live with my family so he can be taken cared of after he was so sick two years ago.  Last year, he was also in the hospital due to severe asthma attack and then some.  He recovered well until the other day when he was having breathing problem again.  He refused to be brought to the hospital and tonight, he passed away.

I asked for your prayer for the eternal repose of the soul of Manoy Pael.

Manoy Pael, may you rest in peace in heaven...

Condolences to you and your family.

Salamat, Princess!  My family back home is starting their novena now for Manoy Pael's 40th day since he died.  They still smell and feel his presence...

Dong, I have something to share to you too.  Rob has sent something for Allie.  You will get it in the mail hopefully by weekend.
