US discusses efforts to stop wildlife traffickingMANILA, March 1 (PNA) -- The Information Office of the United States Embassy in Manila will hold a telephonic press briefing on how the Bureau of International Narcotics and Law Enforcement Affairs combats wildlife trafficking through the cooperation of Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) countries on Friday.
Deputy Assistant Secretary (DAS) Daniel Foote from the U.S. Department of State Bureau of International Narcotics and Law Enforcement Affairs will be the keynote speaker.
The briefing takes place on World Wildlife Day.
Wildlife trafficking is a multi-billion dollar criminal enterprise that poses not only a critical conservation concern, but also represents a serious threat to the security and economic stability of the countries involved.
World Wildlife Day presents an opportunity to raise public awareness about the impacts of wildlife trafficking on the natural environment and the people who share it, and the key role that the U.S. is playing to combat this illegal activity. (PNA)
