7 animal raisers associations in NegOcc to avail assistance for meat shop enterprise
BACOLOD CITY, Jan. 13 (PNA) -- The Provincial Veterinary Office (PVO) of Negros Occidental are looking for seven animal raisers organizations that will avail of assistance for the establishment of meat shop enterprises.
The project 'Marketing Support and Postharvest Facility for Livestock and Poultry Associations' will provide each raisers group a meat package amounting to Php140,000.
The package includes equipment, including transparent refrigerator, multi-function meat cutter, and grinder, digital weighing scale, and stainless steel table.
Shiela Jumayao, project development officer IV, said in a report Friday the project will be funded by the province’s 20 percent Development Fund in 2016.
The aim is to assist local animal raisers in improving their livelihood, she added.
Jumayao said that since poultry and livestock raisers in Negros Occidental are facing the challenges of low farm gate prices and limited market accessibility, the meat shop project is seen to help them increase their income through efficient marketing of products.
They can choose to process and sell their products themselves instead of bringing them to auction markets or selling them to individual buyers, she added.
To avail of the project, potential recipient-associations must submit audited financial reports, seek accreditation from the provincial government, secure business permit, and submit a letter of intent.
Associations are also required to submit copies of lease agreement for PVO to prove that raisers already have market spaces or stalls.(PNA)
