MMDA to impose Php 6,500 fine for illegally parked vehicles along fire lanes in NCRMANILA, March 1 (PNA) -- The Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) is set to sign a memorandum of agreement with the Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP) Thursday that will impose a fine of Php 6,500 for illegally parked vehicles along designated lanes for fire trucks and ambulances across Metro Manila.
MMDA General Manager Thomas Orbos said that the initiative aims to provide an unimpeded flow for these vehicles to swiftly respond to emergencies.
Orbos said that the agency, in coordination with the BFP, would formulate a list of streets designated as fire lanes.
“Motorists must learn to make way for fire trucks passing through the fire lanes,†the MMDA official said in an interview with reporters.
Orbos disclosed that Scout Tobias and Scout Bayoran are now included in the fire lanes. Roads that are not Mabuhay Lanes or alternate roads to major thoroughfares may apply as fire lanes.
The agency will also deploy its towing trucks to clear obstructions, such as illegally parked vehicles, on streets leading to residential communities where there is an emergency. (PNA)
