LTFRB CHAIR SEEMS CONFUSED, ROBOTIC
I was surprised and bothered by the tenor of LTFRB Chairman Delgra’s statements on UNTV most recently. It was stiff, robotic, and lack empathy for commuters.
Chairman Delgra wants us to believe that the burden of enforcing the law should be primarily on every commuter, who by the way have already been reporting via social media the pictures and videos of tax drivers violating the terms and conditions of their provisional authority and certificate of public convenience.
https://www.facebook.com/s1rh4ck3r/videos/1776417992386074/ Chairman Delgra seems to have forgotten that the LTFRB is a law enforcement agency, aside from being a quasi-judicial body, with specific responsibilities over transport services providers given the privilege of serving the public. It is he and his fellow officials at the LTFRB who should really be going after all those taxi drivers, passenger buses, PUJs who have not been honoring the terms of the respective franchises issued by the LTFRB itself.
Chairman Delgra is apparently in lawyer mode when he misguidedly urges commuters to file verified complaints against erring drivers. He should be lawyering for the commuters, but it looks more like he is lawyering for someone else, because his position given the violators the defense or protection they need against the complaining and underserved public.
As Chair of the Committee on Public Information and Member of the Committee on Metro-Manila Development, I say that if you can’t find in yourself any empathy for the riding public and if you are confused about what the LTFRB should really be doing, maybe you may want to rethink your position as LTFRB Chair.
