Northern Antique scholars get PHP5,000 fund eachSAN JOSE De BUENAVISTA, Antique, March 10 (PNA) –- Gov. Rhodora Cadiao extended assistance worth PHP5,000 to each of the around 600 provincial
government scholars in Culasi during the "People’s Day" of northern Antique on Friday.
Cadiao said that the scholarship fund was released in
timetime for the final exams for second semester of poor but deserving college students.
The governor, together with Youth Affairs Office head Rexon Nodque, who is in charge of the scholarship program, started to distribute the funds to 220 scholars of Tobias Fornier last Tuesday and 215 scholars of Anini-y town last Wednesday.
Yesterday, there were 240 scholars from San Remigio who received their scholarship fund and then 200 in Valderrama town.
The
scholarship fund could also be utilized by the scholars for their books, boarding houses and allowances.
For this semester, there are 5,537 scholars of the provincial government.
The "People's Day" for the northern towns of Antique is being held every Friday.
The governor also holds the "People's Day" for the southern and central towns of the province every Tuesday at the capitol in San Jose de Buenavista.
Various services like the release of the Assistance to Individuals in Crisis Situation (AICS) and free medical checkup are also being done during the "People’s Day." (PNA)
