International Enterprise (IE) Singapore has expressed interest to venture in
Public Private Partnership (PPP) projects in Davao City, this was announced Friday by
Davao City Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Inc. (DCCCII) president
Maria Lourdes Monteverde, MD. IE Singapore is the government agency responsible for driving Singapore's external economy.
Monteverde said IE Singapore indicated its interest for Davao City during DCCCII's recent trade mission to Singapore together with some representatives from the Davao City government.
To start with, IE Singapore has positioned the National University of Singapore to conduct a research/study on potential projects under PPP in Davao City, Monteverde said, adding that the Singapore government is planning to focus on agriculture mainly on cacao and coconut industry.
She said IE Singapore and representatives from the National University of Singapore will participate in the upcoming Davao Investment Conference on November 15-17 in Davao City, to discuss further its investment interests.
Monteverde said IE Singapore is also looking at Davao City's sanitary landfill and medical facilities and technologies as possible areas for investment.
Also, IE Singapore together with the Malaysian government are interested very much in promoting Davao as tourist destination particularly for what they call as "honeymooners’ tourists".
