Bohol Gov. Erico Aumentado recently inaugurated P4.83 million worth of infrastructure projects in four barangays in Mabini town 120 kilometers east of the capital, Tagbilaran City.
The projects are the epitome of convergence: identified by the residents themselves as their top priority need, bulk of the funds came from grants from the Kapitbisig Laban sa Kahirapan-Comprehensive and Integrated Delivery of Social Services (KALAHI-CIDSS) program of President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo, funded by the World Bank and implemented by the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD).
Aumentado said Mabini is one of only 12 towns in Bohol selected for the poverty reduction program under KALAHI.
"Mabini is close to my heart because its leaders and people are united and cooperative to bring the town forward to progress. As such, President Arroyo is also eager to pour funding for their various projects," the governor said, referring to Mayor Stephen Rances' and Vice Mayor Esther Tabigue's leadership that rallied their constituents to harmony
