My Visit to Loon
« on: August 19, 2010, 11:48:57 AM »
On the first week of my vacation to Bohol, I decided to drive around Bohol with family. My auntie Judit is originally from the town of Loon--thus I asked her to show me around Loon. I loved the place.

One of the places that I stopped by was the Spanish steps in Loon, the church, and the site of the miraculous image of the Mother Mary.

Regards to Koddi. My apologies for not able to meeting with you. Perhaps we can meet up and enjoy coffee together in the not too distant future.

Best,
Bran Lorenzo

One thing I liked about Loon was that unlike Valencia and most of the southern Lungsods of Bohol, the area was rather hilly. There was a 'lower' town and an 'upper' town. I loved how the old Spanish steps were perfectly preserved. I found the town quite quaint and peaceful. I did enjoy my trip there.

Pictures to come. :)

Taken after the brief shower earlier that day. This pictures truly captures the beauty of the environmental landscape of Loon.

That "Viva Sta. Cruz" arch was installed in May in time for the barangay fiesta of Napo, Loon's original settlement. The village is divided into five competing clusters: Inang-angan (who made the arch in photo), Kabaybayunan, Tulay, Wawog and Tubig-Loon. They compete for points in both sports and sociocultural events. They do this every year, highlighted by a "drama" or stage play that the villagers themselves write, direct and act.

Thank you for the added information about the Sta Cruz Arch construction, Ray.

I had the pleasure of walking up the stairs, taking pictures, and visiting the little 'swimming pool' close to the fish pond in the interior of Loon. I had the chance to visit my Auntie Judit's family (who are from Loon) during that time and was given a little tour around the place.

Loon is a beautiful municipality; its quaint and peaceful. A beautiful town, indeed.

I'm a fan of Loon myself... I visited Ubayon twice (which I try to do every year)... since my best buddy lives there. He's very sick... please pray for him. Thanks!!!

I found out that my aunt Judit (the wife of my Uncle Roger; my father's younger brother) is actually from Loon. So she was the one that gave us directions to drive about the town and pointed out the highlights of the town while I was there and inquiring..

Loon is a very quiet and peaceful town.

@ Father, for sure we will keep your friend in thought and prayer. Thank you for bringing it up. Salamat and regards! Hoping Louisiana is treating you well!!!

Love and Peace,
Bran
