TMO to intensify crackdown versus defective mufflers

DUMAGUETE CITY, Dec. 19 (PNA) –- The Traffic Management Office (TMO) will intensify its campaign against defective motorcycle mufflers.

TMO Chief Danny Atillo is taking heed of Mayor Felipe Antonio Remollo's directive to be more aggressive in apprehending those with defective mufflers especially this Yuletide season to promote peace and order, said City Information Officer Dems Rey Demecillo.

The Traffic Management Office has so far apprehended 119 persons since September 2015 for using defective mufflers, Demecillo further said in a media release Monday.

Atillo was quoted as saying that nearly P60,000 worth fines were also imposed on the violators, while P44,000 in fines and penalties were additionally slapped against them for other offenses.

Nevertheless, Atillo vowed that his office will intensify the crackdown against the misuse of mufflers which generated numerous complaints from inconvenienced citizens. (PNA)
