TESDA recognizes its outstanding graduates, trainers and partners

MANILA, Sept. 22 (PNA) -- The Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA) on Thursday once again feted its outstanding graduates, trainers and partners in TESDA Auditorium, Taguig City.

During the Institutional Awards in the 22nd year anniversary of TESDA, the awardees from different regions were gathered together to receive their trophies and certificates.

The annual Institutional Awards hopes to recognize groups and individuals who exemplify outstanding performances in building themselves and helping TESDA as well.

It was classified into three major awards --Tagsanay, Kabalikat and Idols ng TESDA Award.

Tagsanay Award gives recognition and incentives to trainers from private and public technical vocational institution (TVIs) and TESDA Technology Institutions (TTIs) who have exceeded the set of requirements for Technical Vocational Education and Training (TVET) trainers and have demonstrated competencies beyond expectation.

Out of 38 candidates for Tagsanay Award, they were trimmed down to 8 finalists, 5 of them received special awards, then shortlisted to top 3. The candidates from different regions underwent written examinations, interviews and team activities and being judged based on their submitted portfolios.

Garnering a total of 428.35 points, a Dean of the Tech-Voc Programs of the Lyceum of the Philippines-Batangas, Ms. Rhea B. Mejia was declared as the National Winner for the Tagsanay Award and recognized as Best Trainer in Written Examination and Innovative Career Advocacy.

“We are equally good and everyone deserves to win. I think my edge is that I just gave my heart in this competition though I did not treat this as a competition.” Mejia said.

Mejia also added that she deserved the award because she had successful alumni that serve as an output and a clear manifestation of competencies.

The other winners of the Tagsanay Awards are Rubie A. Arroyo from Bukidnon (Reg. X), 2nd runner-up who also received the Best Trainer in Team Activities and Interview and Bernadeth B. Gabor from Bataan (Reg. III) being the 1st runner-up.

Meanwhile, Kabalikat Award gives honor to the outstanding partners in the promotion and enhancement of Technical Education and Skills Development (TESD).

The winners of the Kabalikat Award for Local Government Unit (LGU) category are the Municipal Government of Piddig, Ilocos Norte (Reg.1), Tanay, Rizal (Reg. IVA), Tagana-an, Surigao del Norte (Caraga Reg.) and San Pascual Masbate (Reg.V), the City Government of Tabuk, Kalinga (CAR) and Olongapo (Reg.III) and the Provincial Government of Palawan in Region IVB.

The Congressional District of Pasay City (NCR), 3rd Congressional District of Bohol (Reg.7) and the 3rd Congressional District of North Cotabato (Reg.XII) hailed as winners in the Legislative partners’ category.

In the Industry partners’ category, the OceanaGold Corporation of Region II and Mega Global Corporation of Region IX were declared as winners. While the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI), Compostela Valley (Reg. XI) got the award for National Government Agency partners category and the Japan International Corporation Agency (JICA) of Region VII for Development partners category.

And the “Idols ng TESDA” is given to hard-working individuals who have become successful in their endeavors through their participation in TVET programs. This major award is divided into two categories which are the self-employed and wage-employed category.

In self-employed category, Mary Jane P. Trinidad (Reg.XI) became the 2nd runner-up, Charlene Y. Serpa Juan (Reg.III) as 1st runner-up and Roy T. Mallillin (Reg. IVA) being the National Winner. At the same time, the waged-employed category winners are Francia Yvette A. Magpantay (Reg.IVA) as 2nd runner-up, Sandra C. Fuentes (Reg.V) being the 1st runner-up and John Ralph C. Sandoval (Region XI) as the National Winner and also the Batang TESDA. TESDA Best! Awardee.

All the winners from different major awards received trophy, certificate and cash prize. (PNA)
