Joint operatives from Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) and the La Union police office arrested a village Sangguniang Kabataan (SK) chairman and two others during a drug buy-bust operation in Barangay Poblacion, Santol, La Union on Wednesday night.
PDEA Region 1 Information Officer Bismarck Bengwayan identified the three as Marvin Ligauen, 20, the SK chairman of Barangay Ramot, Santol, La Union; and his companions, Willy Madiwo, 26, also of Barangay Ramot, Santol and Alex Modag of Barangay Poblacion, Santol, La Union, all suspected drug pushers.
The three were on board a motorcycle that was flagged down by policemen manning a checkpoint in Poblacion, Santol.
Seized from the them were 100 kilograms of dried marijuana leaves with an estimated value of P250,000 based on the standard set by the Dangerous Drugs Board (DDB).
Bengwayan said that four other companions of the suspects are still at large and are now the object of massive manhunt operations by the police.
He said the identities of the four suspects now being hunted are still being withheld pending their arrest.
Bengwayan said that the arrest of the suspect came at about 11:00 p.m. Wednesday at a checkpoint established by the lawmen at the approach of Poblacion in Santol town.
The arrested suspects and the marijuana leaves confiscated are now under the custody of PDEA Regional Office in La Union.- PNA
