Seven people died while four others were injured in a road accident on Thursday in Tagum City, Davao del Norte province, a ranking police official said Friday.
Quoting reports reaching the Camp Crame-based National Operations Center (NOC), Philippine National Police (PNP) spokesman Chief Supt. Agrimero Cruz Jr. said the accident occurred at around 12:30 p.m. along the Davao-Agusan National Highway in Barangay Bincungan, Tagum City.
Cruz said that a passenger multi-cab (LWT-762) driven by Nando Pajanostan was rammed by an Isuzu Forward truck (WTD-102) driven by Albin Galon Pagay.
Eleven passengers of the multi-cab were rushed to a nearby hospital, but seven of them were declared dead on arrival, Cruz said.
â€The driver of the Isuzu truck, who was under the influence of liquor, is now in the custody of the Tagum City Police Station,†he added.
Further investigations are still ongoing to determine the cause of the accident. (PNA)
