Cagayan de Oro Councilor urges CSWDO to treat mentally-challenged personsCAGAYAN DE ORO CITY, April 4, (PNA) - A city councilor here on Tuesday called on the City Social Welfare and Development Office (CSWDO) to look into programs intended for mentally-challenged persons in the city.
City Councilor Nadya B. Emano-Elipe said that the CSWDO should "gather all mentally-challenged persons here and confine them in a “home†so that they could be taken cared of and be administered with proper medication."
She said that the past CSWDO administration "has taken cared all the mentally-challenged persons in the city’s streets, then confined them in a designated center for treatment."
Some of the mentally-challenged persons got well under the care of the CSWD before they were sent back home, while others were sent to Davao for further treatment.
Emano-Elipe cited the need to gather the mentally-challenged persons in a CSWD supervised center in order to rescue them and to spare the residents from possible harm. (PNA)
