‘Internal cleansing’ continues for cops in Northern MindanaoCAMP ALAGAR, Cagayan De Oro City, April 4 (PNA) – The Philippine National Police (PNP) in Northern Mindanao has adopted various measures for the “internal cleansing†of erring officers and rank and file members, a police officer said Tuesday.
Superintendent Lemuel Gonda, the regional spokesperson of the PNP here, said the measures include the daily and random accounting and inspection of personnel of subordinate units, checking of attendance, and the proper wearing of uniforms.
He said that erring police personnel, both uniformed and non-uniformed, would be issued a “delinquency report†(DR) as part of the "on-the-spot disciplinary action" through the demerit system.
Gonda said that 121 personnel in the police regional command here had been issued DRs as a result of the random accounting and inspection of personnel in the police offices and stations in the region.
He said that the regional command also received 49 information about “misbehavior†allegedly committed by police personnel involving illegal drugs and illegal gambling.
The regional command also relieved and transferred to other police offices in Northern Mindanao at least 16 chiefs of police in the city and the provincial office due to inefficiency, Gonda said. (PNA)
