Thirty-four elementary and secondary school athletes training for a regional sports meet were brought to a hospital after suffering from symptoms of
food poisoning in San Jose, Antique province.
The victims experienced abdominal pain, nausea, diarrhea and vomiting after having juice drinks in tetra packs, which authorities said were already expired.
Of the 34, two were discharged from the hospital while 10 others who felt nauseous will possibly be allowed to go home Monday.
The athletes gathered last Wednesday at the Antique National High School to train for the Western Visayas Regional Athletic Association meet from March 13-17. - john mark guda, abs-cbn
