Festival in Sibalom, Antique culminates with good announcement from lone district solon
SAN JOSE de BUENAVISTA, Antique, Dec. 19 (PNA) -- The annual Buruyluganay Festival of Sibalom town ended evening of December 18 with a good note from Antique’s lone district representative, Paolo Everardo S. Javier.
In a phone patch message, Javier reiterated the good news that starting school year 2017 tuition fees in all state colleges and universities (SUCs) will be free.
“Your representative pushed for the infusion of re-allocation of the PHP8.3 billion budget initially from the projects for the Autonomous Region of Muslim Mindanao (ARMM)to the Commission on Higher Education (CHED) and it was unanimously approved. The Senate likewise approved the same and it only showed that we are really prioritizing the future of our young citizens,†Javier said.
Javier also announced to the audience that poor Filipinos, to include indigent Antiqueños, will enjoy free hospitalization by 2017.
“Medicines will also be available at the hospitals' pharmacy and this would lessen the burden of the family when their loved ones are confined in a government hospital,†added Javier.
The event also dubbed as Congressman’s Night and served as a sort of a reunion for the members and officials of the Middle Voice Youth Federation Inc. (MVYoFi), an association of young Antiqueños, which was founded in the municipality of Sibalom in 2010.
The night capped with a comedy act by comedians from the city of Iloilo and a dance sports competition participated in by members of the MVYoFi.
The festival that kicked off December 14 anchored on the theme, “Kami Rugya sa Sibalom, Buruyluganay sa Gihapon†(roughly translated as “We at Sibalom are still united"). (PNA)
