Dumaguete to light up giant X’mas tree ThursdayDUMAGUETE CITY, Dec. 14 (PNA) –- In keeping with the holiday season, the local government of Dumaguete City will light up a giant Christmas tree at the Quezon Park on Thursday.
Dumaguete City Mayor Felipe Antonio Remollo will lead in the switch-on ceremony at 6 p.m., said Dems Rey Demecillo, City Public Information Officer, on Wednesday.
According to Demecillo, the cost of the giant X’mas Tree is P300,000.
Earlier, City Hall had announced it was requesting P1 million for the installation of lights, decorations and replacement of the 18-watts LED bulbs into 27 watts capsule type for all lamp posts at the park.
The Silliman University Campus Choristers will be performing on Thursday evening following the Christmas Tree Lighting, said Demecillo.
On Friday, a city-wide Christmas Choir contest will be held at the Quezon Park starting at 7 p.m., Demecillo disclosed.
Ten groups will be participating in the contest, which forms part of the city’s activities lined up for this Christmas season, he added. (PNA)
