Social welfare and development forum at DSWD RO5 June 29

LEGAZPI CITY (29 June 2005) -— The Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) in Bicol will conduct today, June 28, a forum on social welfare and development (SWD) at the DSWD regional office here.

The activity will be participated in by the provincial, municipal and city Social Welfare and Development Officers, people’s organizations (POs), and non-government organizations (NGOs) in the region.

DSWD Bicol regional director Eliseo C. Copian said that the activity will provide the opportunity for the intermediaries to join and converse on common programs and concerns for the welfare of the constituents.

Copian said the forum is aimed to strengthen linkages among social welfare and development organizations and implementers with focus on improvement/progress along the implementation of SWD programs and projects.

The consultation-dialogue will cover the updates on all the major programs and services along social welfare and development, policies and updates.

Copian will present the DSWD Accomplishment for 2004 and will also provide updates on the following: Technical Assistance and Resource Augmentation (TARA) Plan result, social welfare and development situationer, and legislative agenda.

The discussion on issues and concerns related to the implementation of the social welfare and development programs and projects will be an important part of the activity. It is expected that the participants will come up with suggestions/recommendations to help enhance the provision of services at the local and regional level.

Copian said the Regional Social Welfare and Development Forum is a semestral activity to assess the levels of partnership, cooperation and synergy with the local social welfare and development offices so that its programs, projects and services will be carried out efficiently and effectively.
