Seven drug personalities, including a former barangay chairman, were arrested by the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) after separate anti-drug operations in Misamis Oriental and Lanao del Norte on
Monday.
PDEA Director General Jose S. Gutierrez, Jr. identified the suspects as Riel Calisang, 40 years old, male; Andy Sobrado, 24, male; Bobong Mondero, 49, male; Omen Dumlas, 29, female; Liling Macalbi, 38, female; Saed Dumlas, 29, male; and Sapidon Mato, 38, female.
Elements of PDEA Region 10 (PDEA RO10) under Director Roberto Opeña, nabbed Calisang and Sobrado in Barangay Cogon, Balingasag, Misamis Oriental, after selling shabu to a poseur buyer.
Calisang is a former barangay chairman of Barangay 1 Heights, Malaybalay City in Bukidnon.
Assorted drug paraphernalia and the motorcycle, bearing plate number KF 5734, used during the transaction was also recovered from the duo.
A follow-up operation conducted in Barangay Macabalan, Cagayan de Oro City on the same day resulted in the arrest of Bobong Mondero, who sold shabu to a PDEA undercover agent.
Mondero supplied shabu to Calisang and Sobrado for distribution in Misamis Oriental.
Simultaneous buy-bust operations conducted by PDEA R010 in two locations in Purok 5, Tambacan, Iligan City, Lanao Del Norte resulted in the arrest of three female pushers and one male.
Omen Dumlas and Liling Macalbi, both jobless and Purok 5 residents, were caught red-handed for selling shabu to a poseur buyer.
A total of six plastic sachets of shabu in assorted sizes were recovered from the two female pushers.
PDEA agents also nabbed Saed Dumlas, for illegal possession of live ammunition and an improvised shotgun, popularly known as sumpak.
Another female pusher, Sapidon Mato, also residing in Purok 5, was also arrested after she sold one plastic sachet of shabu to PDEA poseur-buyer. Further search on Mato yielded 12 more plastic sachets of shabu and drug paraphernalia.
PDEA RO10 filed charges against the suspects for violation of Section 26 (Conspiracy) in relation to Section 5 (Sale and Delivery of Dangerous Drugs), Section 11 (Possession of Dangerous Drugs) and Section 12 (Possession of Paraphernalia), Article II, Republic Act 9165, or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.
