DOH 6 urges Antique LGUs to adopt community-based fireworks display
SAN JOSE De BUENAVISTA, Antique, Dec. 19 (PNA) -- The Department Health Regional Office 6 (DOH 6) has urged Antique Local Government Units (LGUs) to adopt the community-based fireworks display to prevent injuries this Christmas Season.
DOH6 Assistant Regional Director Paz Corrales, who is in Antique Monday, said that their department will be closely monitoring firework-related injuries as they recently launched their Iwas Paputok campaign to raise public awareness about the hazards of fireworks.
She said that although President Rodrigo Roa Duterte has not signed the Executive Order (EO) banning fireworks, but then the DOH is intensifying its campaign urging the support of LGUs.
She further said that LGUs should identify a certain area in the municipality where vendors could only sell fireworks
Likewise, a white code alert is now raised by the DOH including the Integrated Provincial Health Office under Dr. Ric Noel Naciongayo starting December 12 until January 5, 2017.
The white code alert status placed health personnel on standby mode and ready for mobilization.(PNA)
