Cavite forges multi-sector collaboration on climate change awareness
By Gladys S. Pino

DASMARIŇAS CITY, Cavite, Feb. 28 (PNA) -- The Cavite Provincial Government through its Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction Management Council (PDRRMC) has collaborated with De La Salle University-Dasmariñas (DLSU-D), ABS-CBN DocuCentral and the Norwegian Royal Embassy on information and education campaign and awareness on climate change.

The collaborative partnership took a non-traditional approach in bringing to the fore the subject of climate change by showing the ABS-CBN documentary “Warmer” to hundreds of DLSU students at the DLSU-D Auditorium in this city.

Hosted by ABS-CBN News Anchor Atom Araullo, the documentary film “Warmer” digs into the serious climate conditions experienced by the Philippines and Norway.

Hera Sanchez, executive producer of “Warmer” presented an overview where the documentary earned recognition from the Catholic Mass Media Awards for its promotion of human values and love for life.

The film was also a finalist in the climate change and sustainability category in the New York Festivals Awards for international TV programs and films.

The documentary film screening was part of the 2017 Information Education Campaign (IEC) slogan “Be aware, do your share; in this changing climate, be the positive change.”

Cavite PDRRM Officer Cecil Miranda welcomed the student participants and encouraged them to use their dynamism and knowledge toward positive transformation.

Provincial Planning Development Coordinator Jesus Barrera relayed Cavite Governor Jesus Crispin “Boying” Remulla’s message to underscore the significance of cooperation and communication among agencies.

Barrera said the collaborative undertaking promotes awareness among future leaders – the youth - on the challenge of climate change urging them to exercise compassion in what and how they act.

Norwegian Embassy Communication Adviser Ian Vergel Agsalda spelled out the ABCs of success where A stands for being the Ambassador and role model; B for being brave to face the challenges; and C for being consistent in every action.

“Climate change is not a choice, but a necessity. Therefore, everyone must act now,” Agsalda added.

He also thanked the Cavite government for this initiative to stir up the youth’s awareness in bringing about transformation.

The open forum tackled climate change issues on how the province transforms years from now and some expert advice on how the future leaders can bring about positive change in achieving a better and safer Cavite.

Local government representatives reiterated the importance of being pro-active and getting involved as Cavite’s transformation 10 hence greatly depends on how they start to act now. (PNA)

John 3:16-18 ESV
For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son (Jesus Christ), that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life. For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but in order that the world might be saved through him. Whoever believes in him is not condemned, but whoever does not believe is condemned already, because he has not believed in the name of the only Son of God.
