Cauayan City gov’t establishes food bank project for indigent children
CAUAYAN CITY, Isabela, Jan 11 (PNA) -- The city government here, through the City Nutrition Office, has established a food bank project that will serve as facility to store foods intended for indigent children in the city as part of an effort to help address malnutrition problem.
Sangguniang Panlungsod (SP) member Edgar Atienza said the food bank is one of the projects of the city government to ensure that the foods needed by indigent children in the city are kept and distributed.
Atienza, committee chair on health, said the initial beneficiaries of the food bank project are the Pantawid Pamilyang Pilipino Program (4Ps) children and the children who are listed malnourished by the City Nutrition Office.
“This new project of the city government of Cauayan was conceptualized to ensure the health and wellness of all Cauayenos as they grow,†Atienza said.
The local legislator said that the food bank is to be fully operational in the coming months when all the needed equipment and food stocks are in place.
Atienza said the stored food will be distributed to the barangays regularly and be consumed by the indigent children in the city to ensure their continuous growth and health. (PNA)
