The first batch of policemen who underwent back-to-basics training in line with the new thrust of the Philippine National Police (PNP) to hone the skills of all its uniform personnel graduated Friday at Camp Diego Silang in San Fernando City.
Those who completed their training were at least 60 uniformed personnel of the Police Regional Office 1 (PRO1), who comprised the first batch of participants in the training which forms part of the PNP's Eight Foundation Initiatives (EFIs).
The batch is composed of 40 personnel from the San Fernando City Police Station and 20 from the Agoo Municipal Police Station.
They underwent the seven-day training in their respective police stations. Both stations are under the La Union Police Provincial Office (LUPPO).
The training actually opened on Jan. 11, simultaneous with other police stations nationwide, in line with the pronouncement of PNP chief Director General Raul Bacalzo, "to re-train PNP personnel on the basic skills of a police officer."
Police Regional Director Chief Supt. Franklin Bucayu initiated the back-to-basics training in the region in keeping with the PNP thrusts to develop better peace officers.
"We will train and re-train our personnel to do his basic job with competence. At the same time, we will intensify their training on basic capabilities like investigation, proper first-responder actions and procedures, crime scene preservation and management, case build-up, proper use of firearms, arrest and handcuffing techniques, and the like," Bucayu said. - PNA
