2,800 students graduate from University of AntiqueSAN JOSE De BUENAVISTA, Antique, April 4 (PNA) - At least 2,800 students have graduated from the University of Antique (UA) main campus in Sibalom town and in its three other extension campuses in March.
UA is the lone university in Antique province. It has campuses in Hamtic, Libertad and Caluya towns.
UA President Victor Navarra said in an interview Tuesday that most of their graduates took up Bachelor of Science (BS) in Criminology, BS Marine Engineering and education and technology courses.
He said that next week, UA will purchase a ship simulator so they could become compliant with the requirement of the Commission on Higher Education (CHED) and the Maritime Industry Authority (MARINA).
He noted the simulator is expensive, costing around PHP20 million, that is why UA, which also offers Bachelor of Science in Transportation, was not able to immediately acquire it.
â€We now have the fund to buy the simulator from the income of UA,â€Navarra said.
The simulator will be put up at the UA main campus in Sibalom and will be used in the training of students.
Navarra said that they are also planning to offer Marine Science and Conservation under the K+12 program track, so that they could also maximize the usage of the facilities of the marine engineering department. (PNA)
