11 more barangays in Negros Occidental declared drug-cleared

BACOLOD CITY, Dec 19 (PNA) –- From only 30 earlier this month, the number of drug-cleared villages in Negros Occidental has increased to 41.

The 11 additional barangays, this time in Himamaylan City, were declared cleared from drugs during the ceremonial signing held Monday at New City Health Conference Room of Barangay I-Poblacion.

These include Caradio-an, Carabalan, Cabadiangan, Libacao, Buenavista, Nabali-an, Sara-et, To-oy, San Antonio, Mambagaton, and Cabanbanan, a report released by the Himamaylan City Police Station showed.

The rites was witnessed by Superintendent Antonietto Cañete, chief of police, and his deputy Inspector Raymundo Franco, with Mayor Agustin Ernesto Bascon and the village chiefs of the 11 barangays.

The last three drug-cleared barangays in Negros Occidental were those in San Enrique town, including Tabao Rizal, Tibsoc, and Baliwagan.

Earlier, two villages in Cadiz City, including Barangays Dr. V.F. Gustilo and Celestino Villacin, were also declared drug-cleared.

Others are 10 barangays in Sipalay City. These are Barangays 1, 2, 3, 4, Cabadiangan, Camindangan, Cayhagan, Mambaroto, Manlucahoc, and Nauhang.

Another 10 in La Carlota City were also declared drug-cleared, including Ara-al, Ayungon, Balabag, Cubay, Haguimit, La Granja, Nagasi, RSB, San Miguel and Yubo and the five in Salvador Benedicto town, including Pinoyawan, Bago, Bagong Silang, Kumaliskis and Pandanon.

The Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) said the barangays declared drug-free have complied with the requirements assessed by the Barangay Anti-Drug Abuse Council (BADAC) and the police, with the validation of the mayor.

Under the new classification, a barangay is considered seriously-affected if there is one clandestine drug laboratory or marijuana plantation in the community and that the identified pushers and users are more than 20 percent of the barangay’s total population.

Moderately-affected are those with two percent to 20 percent of the barangay’s total population considered as drug personalities while slightly-affected are barangays with reported presence of drug personalities of less than two percent of the total population.(PNA)

John 3:16-18 ESV
For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son (Jesus Christ), that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life. For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but in order that the world might be saved through him. Whoever believes in him is not condemned, but whoever does not believe is condemned already, because he has not believed in the name of the only Son of God.
