The
Loboc Youth Ambassadors Band visited China for the 4th time as the official Republic of the Philippines band contingent brought by the Department of Tourism to participate in the Shanghai Tourism Festival from Sept 10 to 13, 2011 and to the 6th China Hangzhou International Leisure Industry Exposition from September 16 to 19, 2011. The Band’s tour in China was supported by Ambassador Carlos Chan and his OISHI Family. Their main purpose was to assist the Department of Tourism promote tourism destinations in the country such as Bohol, Cebu, Boracay, Manila, Palawan, Clark and Subic.
There were over 30 band contingents from 30 countries in the world who participated in both the Shanghai Tourism Festival and the Hangzhou International Leisure Industry Exposition.
The concert tour was also made possible with the support of the Cristal-E College, Bohol Island State University, BIT-International College, Holy Name University and the University of Bohol. Most of the band members who went to China are full time college scholars from these colleges and universities who supported the Loboc Music Project with scholarship grants to the band members.
The Loboc Youth Ambassador Band is a poverty alleviation project of the Loboc Youth Education Association, Inc. (LYEA) headed by Argee Melisimo and supported by LGU Loboc led by Mayor Leon Calipusan, Province of Bohol led by Governor Edgar M. Chatto, First Consolidated Bank (FCB), Philippines Australia Community Assistance Program (PACAP) and the National Commission for Culture and the Arts (NCCA).
