Non-Stop Anti-Rabies Campaign in Loay, Bohol
« on: January 08, 2008, 10:58:30 AM »
Starting January 10 (Thursday), a special composite team headed by a personnel from the Loay Mayor’s Office will go out into different barangays to “eliminate by shooting” all stray dogs seen roaming on the streets.

“I will not announce which barangay the team will start first so negligent dog owners can’t prepare,” Loay Mayor Rosemary “Mae” Lim-Imboy said.

The campaign against stray dog is pursuant to the Anti-Rabies Provincial Ordinance strictly implemented throughout Bohol.

Mayor Mae said she had already given enough time for dog owners to be responsible and for them to keep their dogs inside their homes or premises.

“Rabies is a deadly menace and it has taken many lives of our people. It is time that we put strong teeth to the existing ordinance against stray dogs and penalizing its owners,” the lady Loay mayor said.

The municipal government had already purchased cartoons of .22 caliber bullets for the purpose.

The campaign will not be only intensified but will be continued the whole year.
