The Delegation of the European Union to the Philippines, in partnership with the EU Cultural Group, the De La Salle-College of Saint Benilde, and The Philippine Blog Awards, has opened the contest for a music video on the EU, the delegation said in a news release.

The contest, entitled "Ang Aking Europa (My Europe),” is open to all Filipinos, except for officers and staff of organizations and institutions implementing projects and programs funded by the delegation, as well as staff of the EU delegation and EU member-states’ embassies or cultural institutes.

Music video entries should address the theme "Aking Europa" ("My Europe") taking into account participants' perceptions of the role of EU in the Philippines. References including video illustrations of EU in the Philippines are available at delegation’s website and EU website.

Winners will each receive a trophy plus, in-kind prizes as follows: €1,000 for first prize,
€800 for special prize for original music scoring, €800 for second prize, and €600 for third prize.

Any format, camera and/or video editing or authoring software may be used. When selecting the system/s to use, participants must be aware of the need to produce a quality suitable for internet viewing. The video must have a maximum total running time of two and a half minutes, including opening and closing credits.

A maximum of five entries per participant is allowed. The video must not have been previously submitted to any video contest.

Five winners will be judged according to clarity in exposition/showing of EU role/s in the Philippines (20 percent) , originality of interpretation of EU role/s, program/s, and/or involvement in the Philippines (25 percent), relevance of exposition/interpretation to theme "Aking Europa" (15 percent), creative choice of imagery/subjects/locations in exposition/interpretation (15 percent), and technical quality (25 percent).

All entries must be submitted on or before 12 noon, 15 October 2010 via uploading in YouTube with a tag comprising the title, plus Aking Europa, plus the initial of the first name and the surname. For example: My EU. Aking Europa. J.dela Cruz. In this case, details should also be submitted separately via e-mail to [email protected]

Others may submit, both video and details via snail mail or courier to: The Delegation of the European Union to the Philippines, 30th Floor, Tower II, RCBC Plaza, 6819 Ayala Avenue
Makati City.

Each entry must be accompanied by the following information: participant's name/s, title of video, address, phone numbers, and school or employer.
