7 PA officials promoted to next higher rank

MANILA, Aug. 2 (PNA) -- Seven senior Philippine Army (PA) officers were promoted to their next higher rank during short ceremonies in Fort Bonifacio, Taguig City Monday.

The donning ceremonies, which were held at the PA Officers' Club House, were presided by Army commander Lt. Gen. Eduardo M. Año,.

Brig. Generals Edgar F. Gonzales and Harold N. Cabreros were promoted to Major General.

Gonzales is the Mechanized Infantry Division commander while Cabreros is the head of the 3rd Infantry Division.

While Colonels Alexander L. Macario, Light Reaction Regiment commander; Casiano C. Monilla, 10th Infantry Division assistant commander; Cesar M. Idio, 8th Infantry Division assistant division commander; Ronald C. Villanueva, 1002nd Infantry Brigade commander; Rolando D. Bautista, Presidential Security Group head, all received their first stars which is equivalent to Brigadier General's rank.

"Bearing a star on one's soldier symbolizes the pennant of a fruitful military career after overcoming bumps and obstacles along the way. Your new rank testifies to the trust and confidence of the command in your ability to manage greater responsibilities befitting the stars on your shoulder," Año said.

He also reminded the newly-promoted generals of the Army's major thrusts and priority tasks.

"I count on you to exert efforts in sustaining our operational readiness at the highest level possible. We must not forget that our core competency remains to be warfigting. In the same manner, let us also support the Philippine National Police and other law enforcement agencies in upholding law and order and contributing to the country's relentless campaign against illegal drugs and all forms of criminality," Año said. John 3:16-18 ESV
For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son (Jesus Christ), that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life. For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but in order that the world might be saved through him. Whoever believes in him is not condemned, but whoever does not believe is condemned already, because he has not believed in the name of the only Son of God.
