In separate incidents, a 78-year old man in Ubay and a 76-year old woman in Jagna, hanged themselves in apparent suicide.

In Ubay, Venancio Torrevilla Jr., a former barangay kagawad and resident of Barangay Achila, was found dangling
 on a rope tied to a mangrove tree by firewood gatherer Marino Almedilla at around 4 p.m. Monday.

Torrevilla was declared dead by rescue respondents led by municipal health officer of said town who determined
no foul play was involved in the old man’s death. Police have yet to determine what drove the 78-year old to commit suicide.

Meanwhile, in Sitio Siling, Barangay Balili, Jagna town, a 76-year old grandmother (name withheld upon request of family)
 apparently hanged herself shortly after having an argument with her daughter on Tuesday morning.

The elderly woman reportedly forewarned her daughter she will commit suicide at the height of the quarrel but
never considered the former would actually do so.

Hours later, worried family members noticed the old lady did not come home prompting them to look for her together with neighbors.

The lifeless body of the 76-year old lola was found hanging from a rope tied to a tree later that day.

these two probably had major clinical depression. olderly women are prone to try to attempt suicide, but elderly men are more successful at suicide.
