The Department of Health (DOH) has vowed to continue on searching for the everlasting solutions against dengue.
Dr. Eric Tayag, DOH assistant secretary and spokesperson, said that mindset should be on the continuous search for everlasting solutions in curbing the the prevalence of dengue disease, "to stop saying that these are silly notions or no proof or scientific studies."
Tayag has lauded the rich minds from the Department of Science and Technology (DOST) for their researches, adding expect more to come in the fight against dengue.
Notedly, the DOST has distributed the “Ovi/Larvicidal (OL) Trap Systemâ€, a technology for control of Female Aedes Mosquito utilizing natural larvicide that kills eggs and larvae of aedes mosquitoes as carriers of dengue virus, to areas with high prevalence of dengue cases in the country.
Tayag underscored the importance of working together, saying "it should not be mere signing of the memorandum of agreement, understanding strategies, sharing the experience and resources" in fighting dengue.
"We can do it along with our partners -- local government units, various government agencies, and representatives from barangay, and the communities," Tayag said.
Meanwhile, the DOH reported dengue cases nationwide from January to March 31 reached to 16,511, which is lower by 28.96 percent compared to the same same period last year of 23,241.
There were 88 deaths recorded due to dengue for this same period of 2012 compared to 145 deaths in dengue in 2011.
