This song is sung in the Sama dialect in Tawi-tawi, and its not Tausug at all.

I have no idea what the lyrics means at all, tho they do have the bahasay malay version of this song, which can be translated into tagalog.

Yes it is a muslim Sama song. It's much closer to bahasa malay than it is to Visaya.

Pilipino gihapon, Tawi-Tawi (SAMA) dialect lang. Pero the location of Tawi Tawi is closer to Malaysia. The dialect they are singing in is called 'SAMA' and this dialect is much closer to Bahasa Malay (the language of Malaysia, Brunei and Indonesia) than Tagalog.

This is an example of their dialect, the name of the following song is "Susulan Tawi Tawi".

People in Malaysia can understand what they are saying more than Tagalogs and Visayans can.

Pasiagan - Is the weekend capital for most of the Bongao residents because of fine white beaches. The setting of the famous song "Susulan Tawi-Tawi" is here. This love song is composed by a GI Joe who fell in love with a 'dayang-dayang' (princess). This noble lady is still alive

haha. Is that so? Never knew that! Now that shames me since an American GI knew how to speak in SAMA and wrote a song and I can't even understand the dialect. lol!

Reading that post, i realize 2 things:

1. There are so many dialects in the philippines--and thus makes our country really beautiful. Region to region there are so many unique traits.

2. American GIs or Americans in general truly do have a 'thing' for Filipina women. lol.
