Officers and members of Sandugo USA Family Club, a non-profit organization based in New York and New Jersey motored to the municipalities of Catigbi-and Sikatuna last Thursday to conduct civic action intended for the indigent residents of both barangays.
Catigbi-an Mayor Capt. Roberto L. Salinas, retired Philippine navy captain, welcomed the group headed by its president Luis Antonio "Bong" Dejaresco , where a short program was held at the municipal session hall. Mayor Salinas expressed his gratitude to Sandugo USA for sharing their blessings to his barangay constituents in Catigbi-an.
A brief video presentation was made on the various on-going projects and important historical sites and events in Catigbi-an.
Some 150 Catigbi-an indigents gathered at the town's public market to receive a 5-kilo bag of rice, canned goods, laundry soap and 3-in-one coffee packs donated by the organization. The recipients were carefully selected from the 22 barangays of Catigbi-an.
Also in attendance during the distribution of the goodies were Vice Mayor Necita N. Digaum, members of the sangguniang bayan, and heads of different government-lined agencies.
Dejaresco and the group expressed their elation over the warm and hospitable reception tendered by the town officials led by Mayor Salinas. In the same manner, Mayor Salinas thanked the group for choosing his town as the recipient of the rice distribution.
Mayor Salinas in his brief statement said that Catigbi-an has now become a "lakbay-aral mecca in terms of good governance due its investment friendly administration. He said that Catgibi-an's pride includes the livestock auction center, a new health center, 2008 Best Pamilihan in Bohol, host of the recent provincial meet and provincial jamboree and home of the Katigbawan Festival that features Carbao Pageant, the only in the entire Visayas region.
Other Catigbi-an officials who graced the rice distribution were SB members, Reynald Lacea, Virgilio Lurot, Doris Obena, Avelino Quiwag, Teofanes Angilan, Zip Lastimosa, Mariano Maglahus, Jr., and Ariel Neciforo Lungay; ABC President Teofredo Tongco; PPSK President Nick Nino Ladroma; SB Secretary Ardissa Recimmila-Estavilla; and Chief of Police P/Insp. Mauro Sumaylo.

Meanwhile, some 55 Grade 2 pupils of Sikatuna Central Elementary School received their new school bags donated by Sandugo USA.
Sikatuna Poblacion I Jose Ellorimo, Jr., led in the distribution of school bags which was held at the poblacion I barangay hall. Ellorimo was accompanied by School Principal Mrs. Lourdes A. Vale; Grade 2 A Teacher in charge Gina Anos and Grade 2 B teacher Esther Elle.
Each school bag contained a notebook, paper, art paper, bond paper, writing pad, pencil and face towel. - the Bohol Chronicle
