World Tourism Organization has chosen Rep. Edgar Chatto as the moderator of the plenary session during the UNWTO International Tourism Forum of Parliamentarians and Local Authorities to be hosted by the Philippines in October.
The global assembly of high-profile policy makers, which will specifically take place in Cebu City and Bohol as a technical co-host, will be attended by more than 300 delegates from over 100 countries.
UNWTO Secretary-General Francesco Frangialli, whose office is based in Spain, said they would much appreciate Chatto’s honoring their offer.
In a letter last week, Frangialli informed Chatto of the UNWTO desire for the Bohol solon to handle the plenary session focusing on the economic knowledge in tourism in the local level and the length of employment in tourism.
Bohol is considered a Cebu co-host to the world gathering because the delegates will conduct technical visit to different sites here.
Tourism policymakers and stakeholders in both public and private sectors will converge during the global forum, a priority activity of the UNWTO this year.
In selecting the congressman of the First District, the UNWTO cited Chatto’s global personality not just in his capacity as chairman of the Philippine Congress’ tourism committee.
The lawmaker from Balilihan led the country’s delegations to the UNWTO conferences in Tunisia and Colombia last year that won the right for the Philippines to host this year’s UNWTO forum. -
