Published by Bohol Sunday PostIf you think disabled persons are good only for asking for alms, think again.
A total of 33 differently-abled persons in Inabanga recently received eight chickens each - not for cockfighting either - but for fattening, breeding and for sale to boost the family income.
The beneficiaries, organized into the Inabanga Association of Differently-abled Persons (IADAP), received the chickens representing the initial tranche of the livelihood project funded by the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) thru its Tulay Program.
Mayor Jose Jono Jumamoy pushed for the project, saying that differently-abled persons need even more help than the marginalized peasants, farmers or fishermen who are physically fit.
Using the convergence strategy, DOLE provided the funds to buy the chickens while the local government unit (LGU) of Inabanga spent for the construction of their poultry houses.
