Two barangays of Inabanga now belong to only six nationwide identified as
Feed The Children Philippines (FTCP) model program sites.
An FTCP Model Program is the convergence of various programs and services addressing children’s welfare and issues in identified communities through the active involvement of parents, community, and the children themselves.
FTC helps families in the areas of food security and nutrition, clean water access, health and hygiene, sustainable agriculture, sanitation, income generation, capacity building and education.
As such, barangays Tungod and Hambungan earned visits from Feed the Children International Relations Officer Steve Whetstone of Oklahoma, USA, to monitor project gains and impact.
During the short program, Whetstone emphasized the importance of cooperation among community and local partners in enhancing the well-being of the children and attaining self-sufficiency of families.
For her part, FTCP Country Director Esperanza Abellana said Whetstone’s visit serves as motivation and encouragement for the community leaders to continue working for the community knowing that there are people around the world who care for them.
FTC Model Program (FMP) National Coordinator Pantaleona Sambas, Nutrition Coordinator Celso Lumaad, Finance Officer Doris Bargayo, HR-FTCP Maribel Lagumbay, FMP Supervisor Rey Envidiado and FMP-Field Development Officers Ma. Salome Christy Lunor and Gabriel Escobido accompanied Whetstone.
On the other hand, the barangay folks expressed gratitude for the partnership that has addressed children’s malnourishment and health issues through community-based nutrition programs.
