How To Increase Your Productivity
« on: June 04, 2007, 08:32:50 AM »
Read on for ten tips that will certainly help you improve your productivity in day-to-day life.

   1. Keep a 'To Do' list

Make a list on paper, on your computer or on your latest cool gadget, and stick to it. Not only does it ensure that you don't forget what you need to do, it also saves a lot of time and effort trying to remember your chores.
   2. Do your chores when you need to do them, not as soon as you can

When you need to do something, wait until you really need to do it. Looming deadlines provide an added motivation to work, and help you work faster, sometimes more efficiently. Remember to give yourself enough time to complete the tasks though.
   3. Take a few long breaks, rather than many short ones

Most people have a longer attention-span than they lead themselves to believe. Generally, it takes a few minutes to get back into 'work' mode after a break; many breaks imply a lot of work-time that is silently and unknowingly wasted.
   4. Work with as small a group as you can for any given task

A single individual is more effective than a group for most tasks. The areas where group activity helps are idea-generation and reviews. For everything else, work in as small a group as you can, but publish your work to as large an audience as possible. Do ensure that you present to the right audience - individuals who understand your work and can provide constructive comments.
   5. Insist on sticking to your own daily schedule

You are at your best at certain times of the day (or night), but your company has its own policies. You should try to do critical portions of your work at your 'best times'. This may not be feasible in some situations, but it's worth a shot discussing it with your boss.
   6. Don't waste your time worrying about how much you have done

If you think you've done a lot of work, you will become complacent. If you think you haven't done enough, you will worry yourself to death. So try not to think about how much you have achieved; try to keep your mind on what you need to do now.
   7. Let everyone be aware of your contribution to the project

You many wonder how this improves productivity, but it does. If you establish yourself as an important contributor to a project, others will look up to you and they will respect your opinions. This saves a lot of time in arguments, and besides, it also ensures that you move forward in your career.
   8. Focus on quality

It doesn't matter what you are working on; always ensure that what you do, no matter how little, is of the highest grade. Be a perfectionist. Apply this principle to every aspect of your life and you will see the difference.
   9. Help others and improve your good karma

There is nothing wrong with lending a helping hand even if you have nothing to gain personally. Moral reasons aside, you will learn a lot along the way.
  10. Get started

The job that never gets started is the one that takes the longest to finish. If you need to work on a project, do something - anything - that establishes that you have begun working on it. (silentyak.com)

There will be only and all positive changes if one knows how to manage time. And this will definitely increases ones productivity, doesn't matter whether s/he is a student or a businessman an employee or a house wife. By time management one can utilise his or her time efficiently and effectively by giving required time to each and every thing one does everyday.
If u make a daily time table for urself and follow it u will see the difference in ur productivity very soon. Imagine a school day without any time table and bell.
Time management can be yearly, monthly, weekly or on daily basis. In this way u can do everything important in ur life without failure. Time Management is one of the key of success
