MANILA Archbishop Luis Antonio Cardinal Tagle urged the faithful to join the Archdiocese of Manila in observing the “Day of Lament and Hope: Solidarity in Prayer†on Saturday in a bid to express unity with the victims of the magnitude 7.2 earthquake and Super Typhoon Yolanda.
In a letter to priests, religious, and lay faithful, the Cardinal is inviting everyone to spend the whole day in penance, recollection, and fasting.
“This is to express communion and solidarity with our brothers and sisters who are suffering, grieving and confused because of the successive calamities that afflicted the country,†said Tagle.
According to the Manila archdiocese, Tagle is set to lead the Prayer Service and Holy Hour at 8 pm at the San Fernando de Dilao Parish Church in Paco, Manila to cap the Day of Lament and Hope.
In an earlier statement, the Manila prelate assured the victims of the recent calamities in the Visayas that the rest of the Philippines is one with their suffering and grief.
“We are one with our suffering brothers and sisters. You are not alone and will never be alone,†assured Tagle.
