Almost half of the 678 students of Union High School are squatting on the classroom floor.
This was confirmed in a report filed by Quito del Valle, anchorman of dyZD's “Sakada†radio program who furnished the Chronicle a photo of one of the four classrooms where students were noted to be squatting on the floor while attending their classes last week.
This came after LKA Enterprises owned by Luz Kho Abad, wife of a public official of this town, pulled out some 340 arm-chairs from the classrooms after they were not paid by the contractor who negotiated with them to make the arm-chairs for the Union High School at P450 each.
Ubay Kagawad Alan Abad said they pulled out the chairs since they were not paid of the delivery by Super Industrial Corp. The chairs were delivered last August 4. However, since no payment came, they pulled out their delivery last Sept. 22.
No local officials from the Ubay municipal government intervened to help the students of their plight.
