Fake Honey. Here’s How To Tell the Difference.
« on: August 14, 2016, 08:47:06 PM »

Supermarkets Are Trying To Sell You Fake Honey. Here’s How To Tell the Difference.

Few foods are as delicious and versatile as honey. Adding it to almost any hot beverage, breakfast item, or barbecue mainstay is guaranteed to give you a surprisingly sweet kick that you never knew you wanted.

When you buy raw honey from the grocery store, however, there are so many brands and varieties that it’s hard to know where to start. As it turns out, this choice is a lot more crucial than most people think. Some products on the shelf are far from what they claim to be, and it could be affecting your health.

Pure honey is one of the most delicious foods out there, but it might not be as good for you as you think.

That’s because 76% of all honey found in stores has been “ultra-filtered” to remove impurities and all pollen, according to a recent study.

These impurities are what makes honey good for you. The ultra-filtered honey is lacking in the many vitamins, amino acids, minerals, and other benfits that provide raw honey’s antibacterial, antiviral, and antifungal properties.

Most generic brands found in stores nationwide are found to have these impurities filtered out, making them the absolute worst honey you can buy.

Some non-generic brands also contain no honey at all, and instead consist of rice and corn sweeteners that taste like honey.

If you want the real deal, stick to farmers markets and stores like Whole Foods and Trader Joe’s. They’re all but guaranteed to have pure, unfiltered raw honey.

I had no idea I’ve been buying the wrong honey all this time. What else are these stores hiding?
