Zero Crime in Four Bohol Towns

by Rey Anthony Chiu
PIA Bohol

Police stations of Corella, Candijay, President Carlos P. Garcia and Sikatuna reported zero crime volumes while the Tourist Police detachment in Panglao also fared similarly this February.

Fourteen (14) towns in this province also  registered perfect slates in crime solution efficiency ratings, even as some towns police organizations remain saddled with theft and robbery, some of them involving minors.

Scoring 100% in crime solution efficiency are Tubigon, Sevilla, Maribojoc, Lila, Bilar, with one crime recorded and solved; San Isidro, Dimiao, Danao with two (2) crimes recorded and solved; Dauis, Antequera, Anda and Alburquerque  with three (3) crimes recorded and solved; and Sagbayan and Guindulman with five (5) crimes recorded and solved.

But even with these records, PSSupt Constantino Barot said continued police visibility and street patrols including checkpoints have to be sustained.

Just last week, Barot reported that some 62 police officers completed a training on crime scene investigations in a bid to better equip crime fighters to pick out the identity of criminals using crime scene clues.

Barot with Bohol Governor Edgar Chatto agreed for a continuing legal education for police officers to make them efficient in filing cases and getting criminals off the streets.

Chatto, at his weekly 'Kita ug ang Gobernador"  radio program bared that the legal education in fact will have  prosecutors and fiscals as resource persons.

"This is a big step in getting into the mindset of the fiscal during criminal prosecution and score on points rather than be shot down on technicalities," Chatto said.

Tagbilaran City topped the most number of crime cases with 243  and solving only 61 cases capping a 25% crime  solution efficiency, a chart Barot presented to the Provincial Peace and Order Council Meeting Thursday (March 8).

Bohol Police Superintendent Constantino Barot said that in Bohol, theft cases rose a little over 10% compared to the previous month.

January 2012 recorded 246 crimes as a sum of the consolidated reports from local police blotters compiled by Camp Dagohoy.

In February, the number rose to 272, adding that the local police have been alarmed as most heft cases involved minors.

Theft comprises 59% of all crime types in a crime distribution pie which Camp Dagohoy presented at the PPOC.

Next to theft cases of robbery with force upon things or persons tallied 49 that comprises 21% of the total crimes in Bohol committed during the month of February 2012.

Hmm, not discounting erroneous reporting, intentional or otherwise, the figures can perhaps be explained by the fact that in those towns, there might be minimal chances or temptations for crime, considering that most of the crimes committed fall under the category of theft and robbery...

:P

Remember people living abroad there is no arrest if someone does not file a case from they're own pocket and another factor that drives into reporting crimes is safety of suspect and witnesses not many want to come forward....

Probably this is based on Police Blotter anyone doesn't come forward for any offences reported is not consider as crime, obviously because thier is no police record.but anyway well done to police officers in the 4 towns involved, keep up a good work, ingon nila mas ma-ayo pa ang hoodlum nga mahimong police kay sa police nga mahimong hoodlum,so scary.

No this is based on crimes being solved in the courts....more or less.....I am one of the media that travels in the Talakayan reporting group..

I missed the one in Anda this month I was in Manila....Another PNP Talakayan will be held in or around the third week.
