press releaseThe Bureau of Soils and Water Management (BSWM), under the Department of Agriculture (DA), banks on Governor Erico B. Aumentado to again give a “big boost for cooperation among local and national collaboratorsâ€, during the scheduled project inception meeting on the Evaluation and Adoption of Improved Farming Practices on Soil and Water Resources for 2007-2010 on July 4 at the Bohol Tropics.
According to Dr. Silvino Tejada, OIC of the office of the BSWM director, the message that Governor Aumentado gave during the inception meeting on the Inabanga watershed project in 2002 was able to spur cooperation among local and national project collaborators.
It is for this reason that the BSWM is inviting Aumentado to again deliver a message during this Wednesday’s inception meeting on their new project which is an offshoot of the recently-concluded project on the Inabanga Integrated Watershed Management for Sustainable Soil and Water Resources implemented during the period 2002-2006.
The new research project called “Evaluation and Adoption of Improved Farming Practices on Soil and Water Resources for 2007-2010â€, which is funded by Australian Centre for International Agricultural Research (ACIAR), aims to quantify, demonstrate and provide examples to the Boholano farmers of the farm level economic benefits that can be realized by implementing best management practices for soil, water and crop management.
Through the inception meeting, Tejada aspires to establish link with the activities of the provincial government and “strengthen collaboration as BSWM continues to work on improving the agricultural sector of the island while protecting its land and water resourcesâ€.
Invited to attend the meeting are representatives from the Provincial Agriculture Office under Provincial Agriculturist Liza Quirog, Bohol Environment Management Office (BEMO) under Rene Villaber, Provincial Planning and Development Office (PPDO) under Juanito Cambangay, Provincial Environment and Natural Resources Office (PENRO), Provincial Agricultural Technology Coordinating Office (PATCO), and the two offices headed by Antonieto “Boy†Pernia- -the Bohol Poverty Reduction Management Office (BPRMO), and the Provincial Government Media Affairs (PGMA).
