Sangguniang Panlalawigan-Bohol enacts 1,873 resolutions

A total of 1,873 Resolutions and 104 Ordinances of various concerns have been passed by the Sangguniang Panlalawigan of Bohol during the term 2004-2007, Vice-Gov. and presiding officer Julius Caesar Herrera said.

This is one of the highlights of the accomplishment report rendered by SP, including an orientation kit for orientation of the new and in-coming provincial board members, Herrera said.

Herrera met last week with the new board members and briefed them of their roles in the legislative work and legislative processes including committee assignments.

The committee chairmanship is expected to be tackled during its inaugural session on July 6, 2007. There are 27 standing committees in SP aside from other interim committees created for special attention, Herrera said.

Copies of the Rules of Procedures or House Rules of the SP in the conduct of its session and committee meetings are distributed to the new board members for their guide.

The highest lawmaking body enacted a total of 43 ordinances during July-December 2004; 23 and 27 in 2005 and 2006, respectively, and 11 this year (Jan-June).

The highest number of resolutions passed is 711 in 2005. It approved a total of 617 in 2006; 276 in 2004; and 269 this year.

One of the important pieces of legislation is the approval of annual general fund budget for operations of the provincial government.
